Horrible mileage, I think it's highly suggestive that your mileage got significantly worse after coming back from the shop.
A couple potential culprits: your aftermarket parts. Sometimes, when you change something (air filter, cans, chips) without retuning the bike the results can be an immediate loss of performance, whether is power or consumption (sometimes you lose power, start accelerating harder to get the same acceleration and there goes your consumption).
A second factor may be a shop mistake... it happened to me once on a different motorcycle. The mechanic screwed up valve openings and my consumption increased by over 60%. I would recommend you take it back to the shop and mention the problem, I"m sure this is not the first time they see something like this happening.
Best of luck.

I recently took i to the shop for a 6k service and when I got it back I was getting just over 25 mpg on the bike which seems a bit low. I have a Ninja 500 R (yes a totally different bike I know) that I have had running upwards of 50 mpg, 25 is just sucky compared to that (my VW VR6 car does better...). I love the ST3 and the fact that it bridges the sport/fun factor with the comfort factor, it would be nice if it ran somewhere in the middle for gas consumption also.
