RE: [DucatiST] ST3 Gas Consumption

25 mpg is absurdly poor.  And 35 is not impressive unless you were flogging it all the time.  My stock '04 gets 43-45 in mixed commuting.  Can get almost 50 in more steady state highway cruising.

Subject: [DucatiST] ST3 Gas Consumption

Quick question about gas mileage and tuning.

I have an '08 ST3 with the DP Cans/Airbox/ECU. I use the bike for a mixture of commuting and just for the hell of it riding. I thought when I first got the bike it was getting around 35 mpg. I recently took i to the shop for a 6k service and when I got it back I was getting just over 25 mpg on the bike which seems a bit low. I have a Ninja 500 R (yes a totally different bike I know) that I have had running upwards of 50 mpg, 25 is just sucky compared to that (my VW VR6 car does better...). I love the ST3 and the fact that it bridges the sport/fun factor with the comfort factor, it would be nice if it ran somewhere in the middle for gas consumption also.

Is this typical or is something up with the tuning?

As an aside, with the DP ECU (which I have an extra of somewhere I think... along with a set of pipes) how much flexibility is there in mapping/adjusting the power curve?

Thanks,

Gordon
