The last time I was there, my riding buddies and I followed the road all the way north to the dam where the road ends, hopped on a big jet boat with all of our camping gear. Jet boat took us down the river through some amazing rapids about 7 miles and dropped us on a sand bar, where we set up camp for the evening. Had a beautiful camp out, saw some amazing wildlife. The jet boat cam back the next day, picked us up and delivered us back to the dam and our bikes. Its pretty amazing what kind of rapids those jet boats can go through.
Am sitting in a small coffee shop in New Meadows, ID taking a break from the heat. Great run thru NF39 and then headed north up the Snake River to the Hells Canyon Dam. Had not ridden that bit from Oxbow to Hells Canyon before-it's an awesome ride with a very twisty,scenic road along the reservoir. And it was indeed hellishly hot, as it continues to be!
