Most modern Ducati bikes use that set up. It is easier to clear the 320mm rotors when checking air or adding air.
BobI had a Guzzi 100S which had straight valves on the front. The DPO managed to crack the valve stem by forcing a filling station rigid air line on to the valve (which meant flexing the valve to one side so the line would clear the disc). He was a very D PO - I also had a rear disc disintegrate which may have been caused by the same thing.
