I got one from an 06 to 07 GSXR 750. I chose that one simply because it looked about the correct size and shape in the picture on Ebay. I was lucky enough that it fit in the stock location (ST4s air inlet) with no modifications, according to my notes. The wires might be different colors, but there are three inputs all the same color, and just the two outputs; positive and negative. Anyway, I soldered the wires (always a good idea as others have mentioned) and it has worked perfectly for 3 years now (about 15000 miles) . I have an onboard voltmeter which I know is not perfectly accurate, but my battery is always showing around 14.4 volts at anything over 2000 RPM.
I also made a further mod, I added large gauge wires running from the R/R directly to the battery. This is not a necessary change, but it did increase the indicated voltage by around .3 volts. I apparently had some resistance in the stock wiring harness.
