Good advice to flush and fill all the hydraulic sytems annually.
Since most brake fluids are hygroscopic (attracts moisture) it's the extra water in the system, not air, that is usually the culprit, for liquids cannot be compressed, where as air can.

I found a bid improvement by simply changing the fluid / bleeding the
slave cylinder. I guess that the lever travel was increased due to air
meaning you have more work to put in.
Also adjusting the positioning of the set screw that the lever end acts on......
