Take Action:

  • Boycott advertisers of Glenn Beck - radio show. Glenn Beck is anti-gay rights.
  • Update: DADT has been repealed. President Obama has kept his promise!
  • Boycott Bill O'Reilly and FOX News and their advertisers. Bill discussed a French commercial by McDonalds that was meant to show that McDonalds is Gay Friendly. Bill said what is next? Is McDonalds going to be Al-Qaida friendly as well? Imagine - Bill O'Reilly compares Gays to Al-Qaida!
  • Boycott Arizona the home of "hater" - U.S. Senator John McCain. Arizona's Hateful anti-Immigration Law - encourages racial profiling and increases hatred towards minorities. A remedy: Demand Republicans to support Immigration Reform (The Dream Act). Further, Senator McCain voted against ending DADT and Blocked Immigration reform!
  • Boycott Salvation Army as they will not hire Gays! "DO NOT DONATE TO THEM."
  • Boycott Target, Best Buy, Gold's Gym - for donating money towards anti-gay political candidates/organizations. Update: (12/26/2010): Target is continuing to donate to anti-gay groups/causes/politicians. Update 3/25/2010 - Target displays their hypocrisy and Sues California Gay Rights Group for Lobbying Outside Stores. Target is attempting to block the LGBT right of free speech! STOP SHOPPING AT TARGET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Update 4/8/2011: Target lost it's case to stop the LGBT from canvassing in front of their stores. A huge PR Disaster for TARGET! Perhaps Target should go out of business as they betrayed their investers and customers. Target contributed massive funds to a politician who would like to exterminate gays. Now, Target can not stop us from Boycotting them, nor picketing, nor talking to customers near their stores; although, Target allows a anti-gay company such as the Salvation Army to stand outside their door and speak with customers and raise money. Isn't this a double standard? Perhaps TARGET would better understand the issue if they cared about David Kato - Uganda, who was slain because he is gay! That is because Uganda wants to kill gay people. Again, TARGET invested in a political candidate that would Kill the Gays!
  • End DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act). Prevents Federal employees and Gays in the Military from gaining equal benefits. Prevents Gay Partners from gaining equal benefits.
  • Pass ENDA (Employee Non-Discrimination Act). ENDA would prevent employment discrimination of LGBT workforce.
  • Remember David Kato, Gay activist - Uganda, who was slain because he is gay!
  • Support our friend Kieth Olbermann who is no longer on MSNBC, now joining "Current TV." Check with your cable provider or go to the Current website. Update: Keith Olbermann will be back with "Countdown " on "Current TV", June 20, 2011
  • Boycott "Chick-fil-a" for sponsorship of anti-gay marriage group events.
  • Boycott WALMART - The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, force criticized Wal-Mart for denying employee benefits to same-s-x partners and for failing to prohibit discrimination based on gender identity. By comparison, the group said two other chain stores with a strong presence in New York, Costco and Walgreens, did much better.
  • BOYCOTT KOCH INDUSTRIES PRODUCTS- to include their products: Angel Soft toilet paper / Brawny paper towels / Dixie plates, bowls, napkins & cups / Mardi Gras napkins and towels / Quilted Northern toilet paper / Soft 'n Gentle toilet paper / Sparkle napkins / Vanity fair napkins / Zee napkins / Georgia-Pacific paper products & envelopes / All Georgia-Pacific lumber & building products (INVISTA Products) / Lycra / Stainmaster Carpet. The billionaire - Koch brothers are ultra republican - tea bag founders/supporters that do not support causes of the LGBT community.
  • NEW: Boycott Donald Trump [TUNE OUT TRUMP], The Apprentice and NBC Network! At CPAC, Trump said he is considering a run for president as a Republican. In a interview with the Des Moines Register, Trump added that he opposes all forms of legal recognition for gay couples, not just marriage. "They should not be able to marry," he said. So why does NBC keep the Apprentice "on air" when Donald Trump has stated he may run for president? Boycott NBC, CNBC! Boycott advertisers of The Apprentice and his other business's. Don't shop at any bullding with Donald Trump's name to include Trump Hotels, Casinos, Condo's, Offices, Shops! The Donald has expressed extreme Hatred. He is a birther as well and this brings out all the Bigots! Remember how poorly Trump treated Rosie O'Donnel? Now we know why he did that! It was hate against a lesbian as we now know he is hater. Unforgiveable! UPDATE: Dump NBC as they re-newed Donald Trump's "The Apprentice" after he made anti-gay and anti-black remarks. Start Watching CBS, ABC.

And Now, Today's PIC(S)!

Your participation in discussion of Photos, health and news articles in this message is greatly appreciated!

If intellectual insults could replace hate speech in sports
May 28, 2011 - Santa Rosa Press Democrat

The NBA has been cracking down on hate speech, specifically anti-gay slurs, and that's a good thing. In dealing swiftly and harshly, first with Kobe Bryant and then Joakim Noah, the NBA seems determined to raise awareness and sensitivity and establish zero tolerance toward language designed to dehumanize others.

But athletes are human, and still need to vent their frustrations, whether it's directed at a game official who may be having a bad night on the job, as was the case with Bryant, or at a belligerent fan, which was the instance with Noah.

Here's an idea. Educate athletes not only to abandon the disparaging of an individual's sexual orientation and all the other hateful gutter talk we're all too familiar with, but encourage them to articulate a higher class of insult, more socially acceptable forms of put-downs and retorts. Borrow from the masters of the past. Use Britishisms. Make it an intellectual challenge rather than merely an unthinking visceral reflex.

For example, when that game official got on Bryant's nerves to the point where the Lakers star just couldn't hold it in any longer, instead of resorting to the street, Bryant could have gone to the theater, in a manner of speaking. He could have quoted the famous Broadway critic Walter Kerr and shouted, "You, sir, have delusions of adequacy."

It's highly doubtful that NBA commissioner David Stern would have felt obligated to discipline Bryant for such an utterance. Yet, it's a devastating insult, when one takes some time to consider it. And, as far as I can tell, it doesn't violate any contemporary rules of good taste or cross any lines of political correctness, nor can it be labeled hate speech.

Noah, for his part, instead of sinking to the gutter and retorting to the rude fan's heckling with a common, garden-variety, knee-jerk epithet, could have taken a page from Paul Keating, former prime minister of Australia, and stated, "You, my good man, are simply a shiver looking for a spine to run up."

Do you think Noah would have had to apologize for that? No way. Would Stern have felt obligated to play political correctness language cop? Nah. The zinger would have zinged without the need for a forced and hasty apology. There would be no fine forthcoming, nor any sociology lessons from pundits.

The next time a baseball manager -- let's say Ozzie Guillen of the White Sox, to pick a random hypothetical example -- gets into a nose-to-nose debate on the merits of a call with an umpire, instead of resorting to a predictable f-bomb, which would result in a predictable ejection, Guillen might want to quote Winston Churchill and say, "You are a modest person, with much indeed to be modest about."

It may not win the argument but it's unlikely to get the speaker tossed from the premises, either.

Yes, of course, we shouldn't tolerate hate speech from anyone, including anyone in the high-profile world of big-time sports.

But that doesn't mean we can't return to a simpler and dare I say cleverer time, when to insult someone was an art form, and relatively harmless, intellectually stimulating and a witty celebration of language rather than a vulgar variation of it.

Toward this end, it might benefit all involved to look toward our language cousins across the pond. Somehow, in the heat of competitive battle, if certain Britishisms are used in place of our all-too familiar Americanisms, it all just seems, well, less hostile.

"Bollocks," for example, would seem an ideal fit for any situation that calls for a quick expression of disgust or outrage or frustration, with virtually no chance of causing problems with the powers that be.

"Bloody," of course, is a British staple, perfectly interchangeable with the ubiquitous f-word, but with none of the fallout.

And the next time a certain sports columnist overwhelms a reader with the nerdiness of too much nostalgia via too many numbers, the reader can resist a cheap shot and instead reach a bit higher for a critique. Perhaps a quote Scottish writer Andrew Lang would do the trick: "He uses statistics as a drunken man uses lamp posts ... for support rather than illumination."

Ouch.
