I can't claim that, though I might have gone for a commercial one if I'd known about them. It was just an attempt to make the power less on-and-off, like my more modest bikes which all had much longer throttle travel. The thing about the Ducati twistgrip is that the cable nipple is inserted on a wide radius, giving a fast pull right from the off. Reduce that radius and it instantly tames the low-speed power on an engine that has very little flywheel mass and stalls easily.
Another bike I'd like to do the same on is my Suzuki VX800 which is simply a torque-monster with an on/off throttle response, albeit plenty of flywheel. Unfortunately, the twistgrip nipples are already inserted on the minimum radius, so I'd have to mess with the carb-cable quadrants which is much less easy....
