Re: [DucatiST] Is a 'throttle tamer' an improvement to a ST4s, or a disadvantage.

Michael,

The change to your throttle is nice, but if you're really having a lot of trouble in First Gear, you may want to consider going up 3 teeth or more on the rear sprocket.  Duc engines just don't like very low speeds and the best solution is generally getting the revs up just a bit.  The bit of top speed you lose would only matter if you do lots of trackdays at a place with very long straights.

Hi there to you all, I'm thinking about putting one of these different 'cam' throttle tamers onto my bike, to even out the power around town, more than on the open road. I have heard of, and almost experienced the 'gearbox snatch' (nearly stalling) sensation while cruising around in low gear (roundabouts especially) and wonder if this is one way to reduce the likelihood of it occurring. From the sales writeup about it, you also gain full throttle faster too, which I feel would make wheelies more interesting. So if anyone has an opinion or experience with these, could you share your knowledge of it before I spend my $78 on the gizzmo, then fit it.
Staying upright is the motivation, thanks.
