Re: [DucatiST] Re: Happy New Year.......Ride, Slide, Oh Crap!...............

Here in the lower Hudson Valley,NY the weather has been sunny and not too cold with clear roads and little holiday traffic. No need to plug in the electrics yet. Been out three days in a row and love it. Sorry to hear of your misfortune might I suggest you check EBay for your fairing bitsw there are a few listed though yellow is hard to come by. I've mined quite a few pieces through EBay and been very lucky with my timing. That said search ST2,4 or 4s up to 2003 and you should find something suitable though it will most likely entail painting.

Happy New Year to all also - I did the same as Ron on Saturday - beautiful day for a ride in North Georgia, but at the very top of Richard Russell Scenic Highway, there was about 100 yards of fresh, undistributed gravel, and despite my best efforts to arrest my (very slow)speed, the rear slid out and I jumped off to watch my baby slide about 20 feet on the right side.

Biggest damage was the ego, but most disturbing was that, due to the clever design of the ST4 (2001) fairing, I managed to rash lower, mid, and a bit of upper, along with the turn signal lense and the nice, shiny Staintune. Also snapped of the brake lever, but actually had a spare under the seat!

Changed out the lever and cleaned out the gravel, and rode another 75 miles, but it wasn't quite as fun as the first 75.....

So, got another winter project. All the damage is cosmetic, so I will get out the epoxy and fix some cracks, but in the meantime, if anyone has any serviceable right side 2001-vintage ST4 bodywork looking for a new home, drop me a line...Yellow would be really cool...

Happy New Year, everyone...

Regards, Ted
