Re: [DucatiST] Vibrating front end - 2004 ST3 (8k miles)

This was also a problem with some ST4s (occasional fierce vibration under braking), and the fix was the banjo bolt.

Dunno about the ST3 but there was a recall on Multistradas for this. They changed the banjo bolt to one with a smaller hole as the fluid was resonating and it changed the effective frequency of the oscillation. I changed the bolt on one of my ‘Stradas and it did help; saying that on a bike where the disc mounts solidly to the wheel (like the ‘Strada and my current Tiger) it is easy for a disc to warp. Give me full floaters any day!

You beat me to it Mike, I was going to say the same thing. If the build up is such that scotch bright doesn't get rid of all of it, you can use a ball hone like this:

I had a similar  problem years ago and fixed it by using scotch brite on the rotors.  Apparently, some of the brake pad had stuck onto the rotor causing the front end to pulse when I applied the front brakes.

Hi everyone,

I'm really loving the ST3 and thanks to this group, I've fixed the majority of the items that needed addressed since I purchased it in January. You've been a great help and I appreciate it!

So....on occasion, I've noticed a vibration in the front end during braking but for the most part, it's very smooth. I've checked the front rotors and they seem straight , anyone familiar with this issue or can help troubleshoot? I've checked the calipers, rotors, bearings and all seems fine.

Thanks,

David in Clearwater
