This was also a problem with some ST4s (occasional fierce vibration under braking), and the fix was the banjo bolt.

They changed the banjo bolt to one with a smaller hole as the fluid was resonating and it changed the effective frequency of the oscillation. I changed the bolt on one of my ‘Stradas and it did help; saying that on a bike where the disc mounts solidly to the wheel (like the ‘Strada and my current Tiger) it is easy for a disc to warp. You beat me to it Mike, I was going to say the same thing. If the build up is such that scotch bright doesn't get rid of all of it, you can use a ball hone like this:
