Under Denis' tutelage I/we replaced my LCD panel with one that he had handy. Everything works again.
The connectors were all very clean, the defective unit looked (cosmetically) like new. I opened it up out of curiosity (3 screws and break the glue seal) and stared at some silicon chips, which in turn stared back at me. So of course I couldn't 'see' anything wrong.
Does anyone fix these things at a reasonable/cheap cost? Or is this unit destined for the great scrap heap in the sky? It may be handy to have a working spare.
Anyway, happy now and what can I say about Denis that hasn't been said before? Ok, he has, as the French would say, that certain 'I do not know what'..
Thanks Denis!
