Re: [DucatiST] Re: 1st Ride '07 ST3s

Enjoy your ST3. I put Bar End Mirrors on my Sport 1000 and their awesome! Would put them on my ST as well but that would mean giving up my Throttlemeister and the old carpel tunnel wouldn't tolerate that on long trips.

Good choice!

The rest of the list have covered your questions, however you can adjust the mirrors (it's not obvious). The glass will move in the mounting if you press it gently. With mine I can get it to show about  60% rear, 40% arm - not ideal, but better than nothing.

As for dealer with attitude, well times are tough but bad attitude won't help at all. You say there's another close by, which is the one with the longer history? Guessing that local competition combined with downturn is making things tough for both of them, betting the older one is the more p*ssed off! I'd swing by the other dealer and get a feel for them too by having a chat about what they've done for ST3 owners. And compare service costs.

Good  luck - Nick

As a rider of an '05 ST3 (and also a HD Softail Deluxe -- my Duc dealer says it's amazing how many of his clients ride both brands), I can give you a little input on your questions:

2. Mirrors are always (well, historically, anyway) a joke on Ducatis. They seem to be saying, "If you ride properly -- ie. fast enough -- do you really CARE what's behind you??"

3. Everyone has the same experience the first time they work with the body panels. You'll figure out the wellnuts and get used to them in time. Each time working with the fairing pieces will get easier. Yes, you can change to Dzuz fasteners, as is discussed here from time to time. Or not. For me, it's not a big deal.

5. Definitely do the pipes. I've got Fast by Ferracci and am very happy with them.

Enjoy the bike! Will definitely be taking mine for a ride on this gorgeous day...
