The UK motorcycling (well, it used to be - it's evolved into a community of
its own) Ixion has been around since 1992 and I've been on it since 1995. We
have had the same list vs forum vs group conversation. A lot of people
jumped ship and there's a FB group but it's never used. A lot of ex-Ixion
members now don't ride so use FB to socialise. I'm on both. The list is
better. :-)
Yes,Yahoo Groups is "ancient" in tech terms, and I, too, would like easier
photo uploading and am especially sick of having to scroll through in digest
mode reams of repeated threads.
Our solution for that is to set up a dedicated Gmail account and subscribe
to the live list. It handles threading very well. I use one gmail account
for a number of lists and use "labels" to distinguish which list is which. I
do however still have this list on my main account. :-)
