I also have an 02 ST4s that has had similar non start problems. At 26,000 miles I fixed the problem by replacing the ECU. At 48,000 miles the problem came back and I fixed it again by replacing the ECU. So my bike has had 3 ECUs and I am now looking for a 4th to carry as a spare. New units are becoming hard to find. I am not sure remaping or reflashing a failed ECU will fix it. Did my failed ECUs "lose their map" or is there some physical part inside that has been burned up or otherwise failed?

I believe the 59M ECU is "unstable". I wish there were something better to use as a replacement. I am trying to get someone to remap a later model ECU for my bike but no luck so far.
