[MotorCityFreecycle] Offer: Moving, giving away tons! Dearborn Heights

I am moving next week and will be giving away a considerable amount of my things. I began to compile a list, but there is so much I gave up. Here is the start of the list. I am not requesting people state what they want, first come first serve of the things I have to offer. I will continually be adding things to the give away pile. If you would like anything I will be accepting people tomorrow begining at 11am. Please email me for the address. I will be stopping at 4pm. Please DO NOT COME BEFORE OR AFTER THESE TIMES! Again I have a lot of things to offer so I will likely do this another couple of days within the next week. If you want a larger item I am offering, PLEASE bring your own help to move it, I've got enough of my own moving to do. I want these things gone, so I will not hold for anyone, what's left at the end will be trashed.

  • Boycott Bill O'Reilly and FOX News and their advertisers.  Bill discussed a French commercial by McDonalds that was meant to show that McDonalds is Gay Friendly. Bill said what is next? Is McDonalds going to be Al-Qaida friendly as well?  Imagine - Bill O'Reilly compares Gays to Al-Qaida!
  • Boycott Arizona the home of  "hater" - U.S. Senator John McCain. Arizona's Hateful anti-Immigration Law - encourages racial profiling and increases hatred towards minorities.  A remedy: Demand Republicans to  support Immigration Reform (The Dream Act). Further, Senator McCain voted against ending DADT and Blocked Immigration reform!
  • Boycott Salvation Army as they will not hire Gays! "DO NOT DONATE TO THEM."
  • Boycott Target, Best Buy, Gold's Gym - for donating money towards anti-gay political candidates/organizations. • Remember David Kato, Gay activist - Uganda, who was slain because he is gay!
  • Support our friend Kieth Olbermann who is no longer on MSNBC, now joining "Current TV."  Check with your cable provider or go to the Current website.
  • Boycott "Chick-fil-a" for sponsorship of anti-gay marriage group events.
  • Boycott WALMART - The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, force criticized Wal-Mart for denying employee benefits to same-s-x partners and for failing to prohibit discrimination based on gender identity. By comparison, the group said two other chain stores with a strong presence in New York, Costco and Walgreens, did much better.
  • BOYCOTT KOCH INDUSTRIES PRODUCTS- to include their products: Angel Soft toilet paper / Brawny paper towels / Dixie plates, bowls, napkins & cups / Mardi Gras napkins and towels / Quilted Northern toilet paper / Soft 'n Gentle toilet paper / Sparkle napkins / Vanity fair napkins / Zee napkins / Georgia-Pacific paper products & envelopes / All Georgia-Pacific lumber & building products (INVISTA Products) / Lycra / Stainmaster Carpet.   The billionaire - Koch brothers are ultra republican - tea bag founders/supporters that do not support causes of the LGBT community.
  • NEW: Boycott Donald Trump, The Apprentice and NBC Network! At CPAC, Trump said he is considering a run for president as a Republican. In a interview with the Des Moines Register, Trump added that he opposes all forms of legal recognition for gay couples, not just marriage. "They should not be able to marry," he said. So why does NBC keep the Apprentice when Donald Trump has stated he may run for president? Boycott NBC! Boycott advertisers of The Apprentice and his other business's. Don't shop at any bulklding with Donald Trump's name!  The Donald has expressed extreme Hatred.  Remember how poorly he treated Rosie O'Donnel?  Now we know why he did that!  It was hate against a lesbian as we now know he is hater.  Unforgiveable!  Ready to dump NBC because they air Donald Trump's "The Apprentice"?  Start Watching CBS Evening News with Katie Couric.
  • NEW: Boycott "APPLE." For the current owners and the aspiring owners of the I-phone,  Apple allows an application, "The Gay App", which is supposed to help gay individuals turn straight.  This is a step in the wrong direction.
Apple needs to know that the decision to allow this app on their products is a fallacious idea! Update: March 23, 2011:  Apple removed this app from USA stores; but, may not have removed the app from foreign stores.  This is offensive not just towards the LGBT community in the USA; but, offensive to  the entire LGBT community around the world.  How does anyone approve such a hateful, despicable app towards the LGBT community? Especially when Gay Teens are killing themselves after being harrassed by their church, parents, as well as  by bullies and teachers at school. The idea that this app was used, solicited is disgusting. The big question is, why did Apple violate its own policy not to spread hate?  Who at Apple allowed the company to ruin its image?  The LGBT community is the educated, affluent, progressive customers that Apple seeks!  Or is Apple in a crisis stage and playing games?

And Now, Today's PIC(S)!

Malaysia's first gay film a box office hit: report
(AFP) - Mar 31, 2011

KUALA LUMPUR --- Malaysia's first gay-themed movie has been a hit at the box office but an official from the conservative Islamic party Thursday called for it to be banned despite its anti-homosexual ending.

"Dalam Botol" ("Inside a Bottle") raked in one million ringgit ($330,000) in the first five days, making it a local hit, the Star daily reported, despite Malaysia's conservative views on homosexuality.

The movie, which opened on March 24, features a gay male character who has a sex-change operation to please his lover but finally regrets the procedure. It ends with him falling in love with a girl.

Although the movie has a gay theme, producer Raja Azmi Raja Sulaiman said she regarded it as a warning to the public about homosexual culture.

"For me, this film is my soapbox to remind society not to be influenced by gay culture, which is considered taboo in this country," Raja Azmi told the Star.

In Malaysia, positive depictions of homosexuality in popular culture are taboo with local media facing fines of up to 50,000 ringgit (about $17,000).

Sodomy, even between consenting adults, is illegal and punishable by up to 20 years in prison and lashing.

Although the movie ends with the lead character opting for a heterosexual relationship, Hatta Ramli, senior opposition lawmaker from the conservative Pan-Malaysia Islamic Party (PAS), told AFP that films depicting gay lifestyles should not be shown to the public.

"I do not understand why we expose such movies to the people. We do not need such movies.

"We should focus our attention to resolve other more pressing issues like drug taking," he added.

Last October, PAS urged authorities to cancel a concert by gay American singer Adam Lambert. The show went ahead, but party activists protested outside.

Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim is on trial for sodomy.

Anwar has said he is the victim of a plot to prevent him from taking power after the opposition made huge strides in 2008 elections, stunning the ruling Barisan Nasional coalition, which has been in power for half a century.
"Every gay and lesbian person who has been lucky enough to survive the turmoil of growing up is a survivor. Survivors always have an obligation to those who will face the same challenges."

RE: [DucatiST] Re: Engine mounting bolts

When I got my 99 ST4 I'm sure she'd been ridden really hard and put away wet more than once. At any rate I used the Nichols bolts made for the year model and they were the 10mm ones. I did this last year and checked the torque this spring and all was as I set it.
However, I could have possibly used the 12mm bolts given all the hard riding the old gal had probably been subject too.

I used the Nichols on my 98ST2 many years ago, no drilling, slid right in.

To that end I can add that I left the old bolt in place on one end whilst drilling the other. I then inserted the new bolt, took out the old  10mm bolt and drilled the second half. Indeed the block moves just a bit when the bolt is taken out entirely and even in my sittuation I decided to support the drilling side to keep the block in the very same place as compared to the frame.

Jack,

I have two drill bits.  One is a standard short length and one a "jobbers" length that is long enough to pass thru the engine, frame and then some.  I borrowed the drill bits from work.  If you like I can check the length and availability and let you know.  I used the short drill bit to drill thru the frame and part of the way into engine on each side.  Then, I used the the long drill bit to drill all the way thru from one side.  The new 12mm bolt easily passed thru and engine with no issues.  As a side note, I drilled a short distance then removed the drill bit and blew the chips out repeatedly.  This process worked well.

I also did a couple of things that may or may not be necessary depending on what you encounter.  With the bike on the center stand, I lightly supported the engine with two hydraulic jacks before attempting to remove the rear engine mount bolt.  When I removed the bolt the engine rose up about 1mm or so in the frame.  This was mainly because of the rear shock was still completely mounted on the bike.  The top shock mounting bolt is attached to the frame, the bottom shock mounting bolt is attached to the swing arm and the swing arm is attached to the engine.  You get drift?

Anyway, as I said, you may or may not encounter this situation.  What I did next was use two jack stands I had made to support the frame from under the seat just ahead of the passengers foot pegs.  I have a plastic coated pipe that passes under the frame into a right angle ear that is welded to 1" threaded rod on each jack stand.  I was able to gently lift the bike off of the ground at the center stand.  Then I placed a piece of wood under the rear tire on the floor to support the swing arm and removed the bottom shock mounting bolt.  Still lightly supporting the engine underneath with two hydraulic jacks I was able drill thru the engine essentially allowing it to "float" somewhat drilling the new hole.

This is way more than what I had initially intended to do, but it worked out okay and I was able to successfully drill the rear mounting hole with no issues.  Also, the instructions I received from TPO said that the nuts were 14mm.  They are not.  They are 16mm.  I didn't have any 16mm sockets, so I had to make a trip to get those as well.  Sorry for the long story.  Take it for what it is worth.  I hope it helps.  Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Wayne,

Do you have the bit for enlarging the openings? I looked on McMaster-Carr's site a couple of days ago and found a 12" bit for around $30. If you don't have one, then I'm going to post a notice and ask how many are doing this mod. Perhaps a few folks may want to combine finances and do a group purchase of the bit.

Re: [DucatiST] New TT film trailer

I went to the TT in `08. Absolutely fantastic time, can`t wait to go back. When I went there were no rider fatalities but I believe 4 visitor fatalities. A few people have asked if I rode while I was there to which I replied, "are you nuts?? I`d have to learn driving on the wrong side of the road while sharing the road with 50,000 bike mad riders all trying to ride the same road meant for an entire population of 85,000!!  Maybe next time!"

I took it to a dealer up here ( Canada )and had the belts done, valves adjusted etc. just to make sure all was good. I changed the oil, put a K&N filter in and rode it all of last summer. Just a great bike. The FJ 1200 is a lot of fun but the ST is much lighter and easier to ride.

Greig & Fellow Ducatistas,

This is quite the coincidence. I am soon to be 56 years old and you are the only person that I have ever run into that spells their name the same as mine. My Mother named me William Greig Powell III. I was an only child, there was no Jr., Sr., or 2Nd, she thought it sounded impressive, you had to know Edna. She said it was after the classic composer, Grieg, but his spelling is different.

I bought an ST 3, 2004 model with @ 7000 miles and it came from Florida too. That was about a year and 1/2 and @ 3000 miles ago. I have since installed the engine bolts made by Nichols Motorsports, 510-683-8804. They were $220.00 for the set of two. Titanium would probably cost 4-5 times that much and I think would be too brittle for that application. Welcome to Ducksville and the list.

Good Luck,

Greig Powell
