Re: [DucatiST] Re:Much Ado About Nothing, was quiet clutch mod, why?

Dear Jack,
You have a good point.  If it the noise doesn't bother you then just get on with riding.
However, applying a little mechanical sympathy, audible mechanical clatter is a sign of things being banged together. This ultimately leads to wear and further problems and or expense.  e.g. The noise of a desmo  rocker with an over wide clearance hammering down onto the top of a valve stem would soon want correcting.
If there is a simple and inexpensive solution to improve clutch life then why not do it?
If you had come up with as simple a solution for rattling pistons or knocking big-ends there would be a queue a mile long at your workshop door.Winking smile emoticon

Greetings to all.  I'm still out here in cyberspace listening to what is going on in ST land.  My ST4S is "resting" in the garage while I've put 18,000 miles on the Rapide in the last 2 years.  Now if you are talking mechanical clatter my Rapide has lots of old worn bits that sound wise put it in the same league as a Saturn rocket.  Pass the ear plugs.

Regards,

Eddy
