Re: [DucatiST] Re:Much Ado About Nothing, was quiet clutch mod, why?

I may still check out the mod since I run an open cover but..

the first clutch had about 36,ooo on it when I decided to replace it with
a take off 1098 clutch pack and basket with basically 0 miles.
I have somewhere around 14,000 on it now. Seems to be working great.

A single thought for the lot of ye:  Who cares?  Noise is really only noticeable if you put on an open cover.  Clutches tend to last over 30K miles for me, just the way they came.  Where's the problem??  Ü

Cor, that's a good recommendation, Derek. I wish Eddy and I had made the QC mod subscription-only!

By the way, the effectiveness of our cheapo mod will diminish as the plate tabs bed into the basket slots, so it's worth just checking occasionally and considering adding a thicker plate or shim to re-establish that small overhang. The Bart's version that bottomed in the base of the basket is probably immune to this effect, but is not such an easy process without machining capability or buying his kit.
