I couldn't find Mike's thread either, but apparently Ferracci still makes some risers that are kind of reasonable: http://www.ferracci.com/store/cart.php?m=product_detail&p=373
They say 1/2" rise, but it is actually closer to 3/8". I've got them, and they work fine for what they are. Less expensive than Dr. Desmo's for sure.
