Hmm, my '04 ST3 (24k miles) does much the same thing. I don't much worry about it, as long as it comes up to full eventually. This is the only bike I've ever had with a fuel gauge, so my apologies for being a bit of a philistine but I don't rely on it anyway. I don't bother to set the clock, either.
