Subject: [DucatiST] A memorable sort of day
Today was remarkable for a couple of things.
As I have mentioned before I have a 2002 ST4S. This bike is German
registered and I have had some issues getting it registered in the UK.
I therefore decided to cut my losses and sell it.
I put it on ebay and a guy won the auction for my reserve price which was a
couple of hundred less than I paid.
He drove down today from Inverness to Gloucestershire which is roughly 600
miles one way. He looked at the bike, acknowledged I advertised it
accurately, and decided not to buy it.
His reasoning was that the clutch was too noisy. It does clatter a bit but
considering it has 30000 miles on it it's not excessive to my ear - I've had
dozens of Ducatis over the last decade and this is far from the worst I've
heard.
Anyway the buyer was very calm and civilised about it so I'm quite sanguine
about the whole experience. The good thing is I've had the bike stashed away
for months and I've actually given it some attention today - it started OK
after a couple of months abandonment and I rode it to my house which was
nice. I parked it out the front ready for collection, then this evening my 7
year old daughter was going to a Halloween party and had to leave early so
we could go to another event. She asked me to collect her on a bike so she'd
look cool. I used the ST4S and she was thrilled that her first ever
motorcycle ride was on one of my Ducatis. :-)

After that I think I'm going to have to keep it.... :-)
