LiSTers:With all the complicated things needing to be revisited and targeted for "Thanks" on Thanksgiving Day, yesterday I was privileged to have absorbed a very simple episode that brought the day home quite pointedly. My Mom is 99 and in failing health, living in a nursing home in Salt Lake. She remains a remarkable woman, in spite of an eroding ability to grasp what's going on around her. On her more lucid days she likes me to read her the newspaper, or at least the headlines, so she can at least pretend to stay current on the world outside her confines. She was a news junkie up until a few years ago when her eyesight went south, which might be a blessing in drag.Yesterday I was reading her the headlines form the Salt Lake Tribune, and one stated that Lindsay Lohan was gong to get a hall pass from rehab to enjoy the holiday outside her current confines. Mom sort of grunted, asking "who's she?"I can give thanks Mom hasn't a clue who that dip shit is. Chalk up one for the 99-year-old set.A few minutes later, I read a headline about Sarah Palin doing or saying some irrelevant thing, and again Mom mumbled "who the hell is she?"This fortunate woman also didn't know who Palin might be. Another point for her, and a couple of things to be thankful for!Happy day after to all.Hobatz
