I'm not much of a GPS kinda guy (so far).

When I talked with Garmin people a couple of years ago about the
pricing of the MC/Bicycle units and ones for cars they said the MC/B
units are engineered to handle more vibration than car units. That car
units might not hold up long term.

I use an Edge 305 bicycle unit which has heart rate monitor (in case I
ever decide to do some exercise). It displays and logs the pertinent
data I need and I use it to create trip maps that show where I went
and at what speed etc. The display is too small/rudimentary for the
mapping. They do now have some high end versions in the same line with
color displays etc.

HTH,

Thanks,
