I thougt the song selection at Alabama was funny and don't understand why the part-timer was dismissed. That's just my opinion.
As a long-time PA announcer in college athletics (and having been in a president's office once or twice for song selections myself), I like the idea of actually being a part-time employee of the schools where I work. As an employee of the athletic department, the athletic director has final say in music... and disputes. For a long time, I never understood the necessity of being an employee until recently when a cheerleader coach got sideways with me when I wouldn't play a CD selection presented to me during the game. When all the shouting was done, the AD had my back and, in retrospect, it was a good thing we said no as there were some questionable lyrics in the song.
Sorry for the guy in Alabama. Remember, though, we're just a part of the show.
