I’m currently doing my winter service and on removing the cambelt cover on the horizontal cylinder found a slight oil mist on the inside of the cover around the exhaust cam pulley and also a light oil film on inside of the outer side of the cam pulley as if originating from the nut. There is no sign of oil from the rear of the pulley at all.
Now this leads me to think that the oil isn’t getting past the seal but is somehow getting through the sleeve that is located behind the pulley backplate and emerging at the nut. So is the nut backing off? I won’t know until I get hold of a tool to fit it but I’m sure another lister had the same problem a few months ago.
Does anyone remember what the outcome was?
