great post Nick. some really interesting bikes and many I'd never heard of. I bet there was a big line of cops waiting to ride the Whizzer police bike! A couple of my previous bikes in there(not the actual bikes obviously) the RE continental GT with its extremely effective bolted on brake cooling disks and the largest breather pipe in existence. The 4 1/2 gallon fibreglass tank, its 85-90mpg consumption and its inherent unreliability meant that I hardly ever visited a service station! Ahhh, the 5 (sic) speed transmission, some days it was 5, some days it was 3 and some days it was mostly neutral. The 73 Triumph Daytona is identical to my US export spec one except that it seems to have been fitted with a single Carb. The dual carbs were impossible to keep balanced and contributed to a level of vibration that was simply unmatched this side of a pneumatic drill. One day a severe misfire was tracked to both float bowls and one main jet having vibrated loose. They don't make 'em like that any more!
