Francesco,
I use this method to support the front end, just don't push too hard from the side. This is on a 999 though.
Basically 2X4's and an aluminum pipe.
On the ST4$ remove the tank and airbox and go underneath the uppermost tubes in the steering head.
Jacking up from the bottom of the engine is ok if you use some wood as a cushion so as not to mar the aluminium.
If you have to remove the shock, swingarm, centerstand etc. remove the mufflers and use jackstands underneath the footpeg mounts.
Get creative, but be safe, you don't want your motor-sicle pancaking your ass.

Subject: [DucatiST] Jacking Up
Hello again,
is it safe (for the engine) to jack up the bike by running a pipe held by two jack stands, across the engine, right above the starter where the horizontal cylinder meets the crankcases?
It seems very stable.
Any chance of breaking the seal at cylinder base?
Thanx
