It will work fine, I have done this myself. The load is at the cylinder base where it should put minimum stress on the joint. If you supported the bike using the cylinder head it could be different though.

Hello again,
is it safe (for the engine) to jack up the bike by running a pipe held by two jack stands, across the engine, right above the starter where the horizontal cylinder meets the crankcases?
It seems very stable.
Any chance of breaking the seal at cylinder base?
