Re: [DucatiST] New jacket: TourMaster Magnum or Joe Rocket Sonic

sorry for the other reply, hit the wrong button.

I have the Tourmaster Transition and it seems that it would be a nice compromise for what you're striving for. 3/4 length, zip out liner and plenty of ventilation when you need it. Good armor, for my purposes and a strong outer shell.

For winter riding, like the 30 deg. morning we had here today, I use a their heated jacket liner and I'm warm as toast.

The Magnum is a leather jacket and while I use leather for track/racing use, I prefer ballistic material for street use.

Would like to hear commentary on a new "everyday" riding jacket. I've narrowed it down to either the Cortech/TourMaster "Magnum" (http://tinyurl.com/27npvfw) or the Joe Rocket Sonic 2.0 (http://tinyurl.com/yh4rgkt). I've only had casual-type riding jackets up to now; this is my first "serious" jacket.

Anybody have either one? The fit is about the same, although it's an XL in Joe Rocket Sonic and a XXL in the Cortech/Tourmaster Magnum. They're comparably armored, but the Magnum armor feels stiffer and tougher.

The Magnum feels like I'm in an IronMan suit! It's much heavier and feels positively indestructible. My only question is whether this will be a *positive* over the course of a whole day of riding. Sure, it feels mighty safe, but can I actually *move* in it?? Will it get a little more flexible with time? The full insulated liner (vest + sleeves) is a big plus.

The Sonic is lighter and more flexible. I believe it will offer better ventilation, with the zip-off side panels. Unfortunately, these side panels are fabric, and I really wanted an all-leather jacket. The Sonic has a vest-only zip-in liner.

I've got a separate hot weather jacket (Fieldsheer High Flow 2 mesh), so this'll be for everything else. I'm not particularly sensitive to price for something like this.

Would welcome any remarks from the group! TIA.
