RE: [DucatiST] Pialla: British Army Mug

Hey Ian, I just went to the BBC7 site and they aired that book in mid November but I can't listen to it now. Ah Crap! I just read the part of the book where Jock was dropped in the well by Grandarse during the Battle of Pyawbwe. The whole conversation during the lull in that battle I'd would love to hear. He writes it as they spoke it but it's hard for a Southern boy to spit out.

Any idea where I could find a recording of that reading or at least that section of the book?

That's a great book - it's been serialised on BBC Radio 7 and it really brings home the experience of war in the East from the viewpoint of the man on the ground.  I like GMF's "Flashman" books too.

Hey Jan, thanks for the response, I've been looking around myself and found a repo
version of the Brown Mug issued then. Also found a fellow that has one on ebay, a white one, seems the change from white to brown took place from 41 to 45. Anyway, no where have I found it called a pialla. But, pialla is what those boys in Burma called it. I'm basing this on the book written by a 'good Scotsman; George McDonald Fraser. Name of the book is "Quartered Safe Out Here".
I'm hoping to hear back from that other Englisht....er British Gent.
