Nick is right. They were definitely called Turbo Visors. I remember them well from the press at the time. I never had one myself though, I think they were just before I was old enough to ride, maybe about 1964 - 66.

While deferring to your age-related wisdom, Jan, I'm absolutely certain about that, as I had one! The action was, of course, like a turbine, though this was long long before the concept of go-faster turbos. I guess we didn't worry about noise in those days (earplugs? what for?), but I remember the small ball-bearing in the pivot generated quite a hum through the helmet.
