Re: [DucatiST] Counter shaft sprocket keeper

I had pretty much the same thing happen to me. I was just starting out
pulling a small hill in front of my house when the chain let go.
Unknown to me the keeper had worn teeth from moving back and forth. This
let the sprocket move back and forth on the counter shaft. Luckily the
chain just rolled off the sprocket onto the ground, however, during the
time the sprocket was loose it let the chain rub a hole in the vertical
cylinder's exhaust header. I was lucky that no other damage was done.
I now replace the sprocket keeper with every new chain. I also believe
that chain alignment could of had something to do with the keeper
wearing out. I now go to great pains to get my chain perfectly aligned.
