Hi Mike,
Coming back on the regulator issue I wanted to ask you if you have any instruction lying around on how to fit that honda regulatro that you mentioned in some of your posts. Mine is working but I did waste a battery recently and wouldn't want to risk another one. I am using the winterbreak for upgrading the electrics (cable works from battery to ground and starter/solenoid as well as the stator-r/r cabling. I also intend to change the regulator. If I understand well this honda regulator is not a shunt regulator and will remain cool as compared to the original ducati regulator? I will be shopping for the honda regulator/kawa regulator and see what's available on ebay now.
cheers
Nico

I got one from an 06 to 07 GSXR 750. I chose that one simply because it looked about the correct size and shape in the picture on Ebay. I was lucky enough that it fit in the stock location (ST4s air inlet) with no modifications, according to my notes. The wires might be different colors, but there are three inputs all the same color, and just the two outputs; positive and negative. Anyway, I soldered the wires (always a good idea as others have mentioned) and it has worked perfectly for 3 years now (about 15000 miles) . I have an onboard voltmeter which I know is not perfectly accurate, but my battery is always showing around 14.4 volts at anything over 2000 RPM.
I also made a further mod, I added large gauge wires running from the R/R directly to the battery. This is not a necessary change, but it did increase the indicated voltage by around .3 volts. I apparently had some resistance in the stock wiring harness.
