The simplest and most effective option is one I've done on ten bikes so far, and that is to fit a high-intensity red LED repeater within your field of view as you look down the road. Tucked under the screen, as high as possible, it cannot be ignored and is neither embarassing (noise, which you may not even hear when on the move), nor will it cancel the signals arbitrarily. It's pretty easy to wire in, as long as you realise that LEDs only flow current in one direction! Either fit one for each side, or add a couple of extra 12V diodes so that the two signal circuits remain isolated. Infinitely better than any commercial signal minder system I've seen or tried!
