I had the same problem on my 98 ST2. Since it was a known issue I had purchased a stator from a dealer in the states just in case. When it finally happened I took to the dealer only to find out that DNA would not honor the recall as I was the 3rd owner, 24,000 miles and the bike was 12 years old. I source the modified spacer from a dealer that had one in stock and did the repair myself. I hold no ill feelings with Ducati as the bike has lived a long life and never left me stranded.
Stator part# 26540121a
Spacer for the stator part# 71311242a
Maybe you could call around to the dealers and find on on a shelf or let us know stseside and we could help you kook for the needed parts.
That Max guy :)

> Hi guys . I need to make you all aware of the aftercare service Ducati Uk deal to thier customers. My 1998 ST2 broke down in June 2010 and was taken to Parkinsons M/Cycles in Colchester. The fault was diagnosed as a Generator problem. As you all know with the cost of spares for our bikes, the prospect of replacing the generator didn't please me.
