I am going with a 14/43, and will pick up a 15 tooth front, since they are way cheaper than a rear.

Well, here's one ST4 jockey who's very satisfied with the stock 15/43! Perfectly usable at low speed, especially with a progressive throttle, yet excellent for high speed cruising, I've always had the impression that the 4 was the only ST model where Ducati got the ratios exactly right!
