My rules for myself are very simple: Nearly all Ducatis have stock sprocket ratios that are unfriendly to riding in town or heavily loaded. Go up 3 teeth or so on rear to fix this. Always keep 15 on front, as it will reduce wear on chain, sprocket and protective material on the swingarm by the front sprocket. Never concerned myself with harmonics or any of that stuff and never noticed any such effects, on 5 current street and track-ridden Ducs, all with the same 520 chain and sprockets and various ratios. That is all.

I also checked through previous posts, and no one has commented on the stock 15/43 for the ST4. QW and others have good things to say about the stock ST2 setup.

15 x 44 is perfect for me. I use it for 13 years now on my two ST2.
