Nick's idea is easy to carry out, simple and cheap. However, If it's
bright enough to be obvious during the day, it will need to be dimmed
at night. I think that the only useful 'signal minder' is the algorithm
that BMW uses. I can't remember the exact figures, but it has two modes:
If your speed is over 50 km/h, then it cancels after 15 seconds. If your
speed is under 50 km/h then it cancels after you've travelled 300 metres.
On the very rare occasion when this wasn't enough, I've always found it
easy to notice and restart the indicator. I presume that other manufacturers
don't want to pay a royalty fee to BMW. I wish they would. (There's no need
to go the whole hog and have the separate left and right indicator buttons:)
