Re: [DucatiST] Re:Here's a flaming echo !!!

I still have the D-Times kit on mine, and while it's not made the job one I look forward to, it's drastically better than the stock arrangement. I did lose one Dzus fastener along the way, only to find it laying in the spot where I normally park at work. Now I give them a quick visual check as part of my pre-ride.

I think Derek's approach, without the metal bands, would be a further improvement, but I'm going to be spending the Spring on Project Get (Sorta) Nekkid which will delete the lower and mid fairings. I'll be going after the look of the fairing on first ST2 in this thread:

I made my own brackets but they too were a pain in the arse, trying to get everything lined up and the Dzus to fasten was very difficult. Eventually I chucked the brackets and fitted the clip on Dzus receptacles to the top of the upper part of the lower fairing, It's been like this for about 4 years now with no problems. I can whip the lower fairings off in about 60 seconds but it takes a few longer to re-fit them. The RH side is a bit awkward to locate around the coolant reservoir but at least I can leave all of the top fairing in place :-)

I tried the "kit"  also, also had the same results.  The fasteners, once lined up, would not stay done up.  I went back to the wellnuts but with less of them and everything stays together just fine.  Now there's a couple less fasteners to deal with!
