Thanks Willie, but that would not work. The C3's strap is a semi hard (semi soft?) plastic piece which ratchets into the holder.
The discomfort comes from it's bulk and lack of flexibility in it's thin plane which makes it rub/dig in uncomfortably.
Adding the cushion tube will just add to its thickness, and so while it may be less hard edged, it will be even more noticeable.
