I have a 2001 ST2, which came with a 15/42 setup. I lowered the gearing to 15/44 and think it is perfect. I would stay away from the 14 tooth countershaft sprocket.
so my 99 ST4 is in the shop for a 12k service, and the mechanic called and said i needed new sprockets. the previous set were 14/42 (not 45 as i quoted previously - i knew it was 1:3), and i want to get away from an integer multiple. i like the pep of the larger reduction than the stock 15/43, but havent tried anything else. My main use is up in the hills at 30-50 mph. For a long highway trip, i think i would switch out the front back to stock for better mileage/engine noise. Does anyone have experience with a 14/43 setup? I also checked through previous posts, and no one has commented on the stock 15/43 for the ST4. QW and others have good things to say about the stock ST2 setup.
Thanks!
