A different approach for doing the drilling and keeping prices down is to get the correct size standard length bit but with an undersized shaft (sorta like a half inch drill with a 3/8" shaft to fit in a 3/8" drill chuck). Then buy an extension for that sized under cut but still small enough to clear the hole you're drilling. The extensions are available at Lowes, Home Depot and such. Now if you want to do this in a real tight fit for no wiggle room, drill to within a few thousandths of the correct size then ream it to size. Keep the bolts in the freezer, deep freeze is even better. When the reaming is done, clean the holes real well, put a slight coating of oil on a rag (using a gun cleaning rod will do fine) and run it through the hole to lube and ensure a clean hole. Push the bolts through and center them up, run your nuts up on the bolts and torque them to speck, doing about 1/2 of the torque value, then the final value.
