Let me guess? It's a 2002 ST4s. I have experienced this phenomenon more than once with my buddies 02 ST4s. Though we have not found the exact cause it seems to be ECU related. It also seems to be related to battery output due to the fact that it disappeared for a while after intalling a new battery. I would try a new battery along with new cables (Powerlet) and give it a try. A new ECU may solve it as well. He hasn't tried that yet.
