as you have done this trip before you probably know all the good roads around Hay. my favourite is the triangular route from Talgarth to Tretower to Brecon and Back to Talgarth and back to Hay. Hay to Abergavenny over the Gospel pass is a good low speed run with great views and Llanthony priory for a pint and some history. In Hay I can recommend the Blue Boar for some of the most expensive beer in South Wales ;-).
If the weather is good I might be round that way myself. A yellow st4 will probably be me
