We used to have flaming rows every time a new car or bike was suggested (in my case about once every 6 weeks) :-)
About 10 years ago I put aside a pot of £2000 from an inheritance and at that time had 4 bikes. From that (with a few small top ups) I have maintained my habit by buying low and selling for a modest profit whenever possible (unless to a friend). She no longer knows or cares what I have in the garage as long as it doesn't affect the family finances.
I recently sold a number of bikes, bought the second ST4S and an old Alfa GTV. The bike was no problem, but the car caused far greater problems even though it was a quarter of the price of the ST! :-)

I tell you Mike, it's like that movie Sophie's Choice - a bike you always wanted (and in my case they're usually pretty obscure) pops up, but with no funds or storage you have to decide - do you love it/ need it more than that Triumph/Guzzi/Morini/Ducati you also were looking for for ages?! Which do you love more? Which will you have to cast out into the wilderness? Heartbreaking, that's what it is!IanE
