Re: [DucatiST] Regulator/Rectifier again? [2 Attachments]

Hey Andy & Duke Masters,

Here's an alternate location that has worked well for me for several thousand miles with nary a problem and no apparent effect on engine performance.

However, it only works with an intact, untrimmed airbox lid.
It provides for constant, cool airflow, especially at a long traffic signal in hot weather with no airflow.

I utilized an aluminium heat sink on short, stand off insulators.

Hi Larry and all,

I've looked at a cheaper option of a Kawasaki or Honda but I don't have the time to chop it about so I'm going for the RR50 plug and play. Larry, does the RR50 run cooler that the standard Ducati RR? Also I'm thinking of cutting a slot in the side of the air duct to feed the cables through so I can mount the RR in the duct. Or another option is just to drill some holes in the faring that wraps around the air duct to feed some cooling air to the RR. Anyone had a go at this?

Regards,

Andy.  98 ST2, North West, UK.

Andy, I have the RR50 from this site works great. Keep the old one as a spare, I like the plug and play in case there is ever a failure on the road.

Subject: [DucatiST] Regulator/Rectifier again?

Hi All,

The ST2 was out front waiting to go with tent and sleeping bag for the Stafford Motorcycle Show. A knock at the door, the next door neighbour had reversed out of her drive and into my bike knocking it over. Long story short cosmetic damage, battery requiring replacing and a blown regulator/rectifier.

The question is, are there any othere R/R from other Ducati modles that are compatable with the ST2 (it's a "98"). I don't know if it's a 2 or 3 phase model (2 or 3 yellow wires) . I'm taking it apart on Friday so will know then. Also are there any after market R/R's avalible in the UK and has anyone fitted one, are they reliable?

I've found this one a RR50?

http://www.bbbikeshop.co.uk/acatalog/Ducati_Regulator_Rectifiers.html

and this one on eBay?

and this?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120711824045&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

Hope you can help?

Kind Regards,

Andy, ST2 '98' North West, England.
