Well Tropist I do believe it is mainly to control young fellas who show off in town doing wheel spins etc, in their cars, although I think " Nanny State" revenue raising is pretty likely also. Even on the divided, multi lane highways, where 160 kph on a ST would be quite safe, and the road could be 600km in length, the limit is 110km. Go figure.
And as for finding some 'pass time' close to the edge, been there for 30 years+. Time to kit up with an illegal radar detector and ' James Bond' revolving style number plates, and ride over the edge.
They (laws) just bring out the anarchist cowboy in me.
