Ok Gents, who are the Velocette experts round her. My cousin has offered me his Velocette project, which I plan to get and no it ain't fer sale. "a project bike that I've never finished…& now cannot complete.  It's a Velocette Venom 500cc single (in Thruxton state of tune, 40 HP at 6000 rpm) placed in a very early (1953-54) Norton "Featherbed" frame.
