Take the housing off.  Then order the really deluxe LED PC-board assembly from Ducati Designs and you won't have to take the housing off but once, to install.

I've got a 1999 ST4 and need to replace the bulb for the license plate light before getting inspection.

Does the clear lens pop out somehow, or do you need to remove and unscrew the housing to get at it?
