Wayne, you're not a newbie so you probably already know how to diagnose this, so I apologize for the pop off response. Still, Duc dry clutches generally groan for two reasons: unnecessary feathering and air in the lines. Japanese bike riders tend to burn out Duc clutches until they realize that they can just load the clutch and then dump it and go, as high rev inline bikes require a lot more feathering to prevent wheelies and stalls. Your Duc clutch is more like and on/off switch unless you pony up for a racer friendly "feather clutch." Air trapped in the clutch lines will limit the clutch movement and cause a variety of issues, including groaning. Were it me, I'd bleed my clutch lines and then practice using my clutch either on or off, not in between.
